JOB TITLE:     Section Leader (Secondment Opportunity - 6 months)

SHIFT:  Evening 1500-2300

DEPARTMENT:   Operations

LOCATION:  West Drayton

REPORTS TO:  Shift Manager

  

JOB PURPOSE

The Section Leader will oversee daily operations within a designated section of the manufacturing process, ensuring that Safety protocols, production targets and quality standards are consistently met. This role requires strong management, operational efficiency and commitment to contentious improvement to drive performance and meet business objectives.

  

POSITION RESPONSBILITIES

·       Heath and Safety

  •     Promote a culture of safety by ensuring adherence to all health and safety policies.

  •     Conduct risk assessment and safety audits regularly, addressing hazard proactively.

 

·       Operational Management;

  •     Manage and coordinate activities to meet production schedules.

  •     Allocate tasks and resources effectively to maximum productivity and efficiency

  •     Monitor production processes, identifying and resolving operational issues promptly.

 

·       Team management

  •     manage, motivate and develop a team.

  •     Conduct regular performance reviews, providing feedback and coaching to support colleagues development.

  •     Ensure effective communication across shifts and departments.

 

·       Quality and compliance

  •     ensure products meet quality standards through adherence to SOPs, quality checks and corrective actions.

  •     Collaborate with the quality team to address non-conformalities and improve processes

  •     Maintain compliance with health and safety and environmental regulations.

 

·       Continuous improvement

  •     Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost effectivcies.

  •     Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.

Job requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERTISE

Technical knowledge

  •        Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment and workflow optimisation

  •        Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies

  •        Familiarity with health, safety and environmental regulations in a manufacturing setting
